Although COVID-19 vaccination remains effective in preventing severe disease, recent data suggest vaccination becomes less effective over time at preventing infection or milder illness, particularly in people aged 65+.
Data show that a booster shot increased immune response and offered improved protection from COVID-19, including the Delta variant.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends all adults receive a booster 6 months after completing the Pfizer/Moderna series, and 2 months after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. You may mix-and-match your booster — choosing any of the COVID-19 vaccines as a booster, regardless of the type you previously received .
Find a vaccination site near you.
If you have questions or are unsure about getting a booster vaccination for yourself or a family member, contact your medical provider or visit the BCBS website for more information.
I’ve had COVID. How long do I need to wait before receiving the vaccine or booster?
The CDC recommends people who have had COVID-19 wait to be vaccinated/boosted until they have recovered from their illness and have met the criteria for discontinuing isolation. People who have had a known COVID-19 exposure should seek vaccination after their quarantine period has ended.
Vaccine incentive has been extended through the end of the year.
To be eligible for the $150 vaccine incentive, you must receive your first dose in the Pfizer/Moderna series, or the one-shot J&J vaccine by December 31st. Upon completion of the manufacturer-recommended dosage, you may submit a photo of your vaccine card to [email protected] to receive or donate your $150 incentive. (This incentive does not apply to the COVID-19 booster.)
Do you know what to do if you are experiencing COVID symptoms?
Be sure to review or print our guide on when to stay home with symptoms or if you’ve come into close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19. After an employee reports COVID symptoms and/or close contact, supervisors will report your status to the appropriate TMR representative and/or Safety to minimize potential workplace transmission.
We continue to monitor the progress of the federal vaccine mandate, which remains frozen in appeals court. This committee will provide updates as soon as they are available.
