Free At-Home COVID Tests
In response to the new government requirement for at-home testing coverage, we are sharing a summary from Blue Cross Blue Shield of what’s available to you as of February 1st, 2022.
Ways you can get COVID-19 rapid at-home tests:

Order from covidtests.gov
- The federal government is offering four free tests to all households. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days.

In-person at Walmart, Rite Aid and Sam’s Club pharmacies
- Employees with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan benefits can obtain free, over-the-counter COVID-19 tests at Walmart, Rite Aid, and Sam’s Club stores. (preferred pharmacy network)
- You must present your Blue Cross member ID card.

From non-preferred pharmacies
- Starting Feb. 1, you can be reimbursed up to $12 per FDA-approved test purchased at non-preferred pharmacies. To request reimbursement, submit this form.
Additional Information
- You may reimburse yourself if you purchased an FDA- approved at-home test between Jan. 15 and Jan. 31 or purchased an at-home test ordered by a provider and want to be reimbursed, submit this form.
- Each person can obtain up to eight qualifying, FDA-authorized at-home tests every month. Some test kits include two tests per box. Those kits would count as two tests.
- An order from a qualified health professional isn’t required to obtain over the counter at‑home tests from the preferred pharmacies.
