We are pleased to share some developing news. Effective today, April 25, Schupan Asset Management (SAM) has combined forces with Grand Rapids, Michigan-based, Valley City Electronic Recycling, to form a new entity “Schupan Electronics Recycling” (SER).

Established in 2013 and currently with one location in Kalamazoo, SAM provides corporate customers with secure and environmentally responsible disposal of their electronic waste. SAM adheres to the highest standards for data destruction, ensuring sensitive company information is irretrievable.

The new entity, SER, will incorporate the experience and knowledge from both SAM and Valley City to better meet and service the ever-changing demands of the e-recycling industry by allowing us to:

• Offer more services
• Increase our customer base and expand our geographical footprint
• Enhance our ability to grow our business and positively impact our people and the communities we serve

Jason Kehr, president of Valley City, is excited about the new venture and the possibilities that lie ahead. When asked his thoughts on a name for the new business he replied, “Something with ‘Schupan’. That’s why I’m doing this. You guys are known for doing things right.”

That respect is mutual. With this merger, Valley City will move into the smaller of the two facilities at our Wyoming site. This location will serve as a handling and staging location for materials to be transported to our Peekstok facility in Kalamazoo for additional processing. It will also offer a computer refurbishment and resale store, open to the public. The Peekstok location will remain our main processing facility for SER and current Schupan employees will see little to no disruption to their operations, benefits and employee status.

We’ve set up the new venture to play to the strengths of Drew Beekman and Jason Kehr, who will jointly run SER’s operations. Jason will focus on building supplier relationships and bringing in new material through his business development efforts. Drew will manage the processing and selling of the material, leveraging his deep understanding of our operational systems.

Please direct any questions you have to your immediate supervisor, Business Unit leader, or TMR Business Partner. Thank you to the current e-recycling team and a hearty welcome to the newest Schupan members!

We’re excited about this new chapter and the opportunities it holds for all of us!
