We operate in a safe, responsible manner respectful of the environment and the health of our employees, customers, and the communities where we operate.
Safety Absolutes
These rules have been implemented because Schupan values our employees and human life above all else.
Lock It Out
- All equipment must be de-energized and locked out before performing any service or maintenance activity.
Buckle Up
- Seat belts must be fastened at all times when operating mobile equipment and vehicles.
Personal Protective Equipment
- Must be worn where required at all times (safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hats, safety vests, etc).
Electronic Device Use
- Employees may not use a mobile electronic device while operating any machine, mobile equipment or while performing any safety-sensitive job or function.
Report Safety Issues
Your safety concerns and ideas make a difference.
- Safety issues must be reported to a supervisor, manager, or safety team member.
- Near misses must be reported to a supervisor, manager, or safety team member.
- A near miss, near death, near injury, or close call is an unplanned event that has potential to cause, but does not result in human injury, environmental or equipment damage, or an interruption of normal operations.
- Stop Work Authority
- Employees and Contract Workers have the obligation and responsibility to stop work when a perceived unsafe condition or behavior may result in an unwanted event.
Report a Workplace Injury
Report all injuries, incidents, and near-misses to your supervisor.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Schupan provides all required PPE and safety equipment to employees free of charge. We also provide an annual allowance for safety shoes and an allowance for prescription safety glasses every two years.
Employee-purchased PPE is allowed in some instances, but it must be inspected and approved by a member of the Schupan EHS team.
For questions about PPE requirements, use, care, and selection, please contact your supervisor or the Schupan EHS team.
