Last Thursday, MIOSHA recommended a return to face mask requirements in the workplace. Therefore, Schupan will revert to our previous masking policy.
As a company, we are seeing an increase in positive and close-contact COVID-19 cases. Our overall vaccination rate of approximately 49% and the continuing spread of the new COVID-19 variants in the U.S. puts our employee’s safety at increasing risk.
Effective Thursday, August 19th, all employees — regardless of vaccination status — must wear a face covering on all Schupan premises if 6 feet of distance cannot be maintained. We will continue to evaluate the situation and adjust this mask policy as soon as we believe it is safe to do so.
Our current COVID policies include:
- If you are sick or experiencing any COVID symptoms, stay home. Those symptoms include: fever/chills; loss of taste or smell; cough; headache; body aches; sore throat; runny nose/congestion.
- Report all symptoms of illness to your supervisor. Your supervisor will then share those symptoms with our Employee Health & Safety team to assess the potential risk of close contact and take appropriate safety steps.
- Maintain the distance. A minimum 6-foot person-to-person distance must be maintained to the best of your ability at all times.
- Wear a face covering. When the 6-foot distance cannot be observed, your face should be covered for you & your coworkers’ protection. When in a shared space such as hallways, break rooms, copy rooms, and conference rooms, you must wear a face mask.
Continue to observe these sanitary measures:
- Wash and sanitize your hands. Wash often and wash thoroughly. Keep sanitizer close.
- Avoid touching your face. Do not adjust your mask with unwashed hands. Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Make sure your face covering is clean. Have a spare mask (or two) so you can frequently launder your cloth face coverings.
As a reminder, Schupan is offering a $150 incentive to all current employees who complete the FDA-recommended vaccine dosage. Proof of completion can be shared with [email protected] to receive the incentive pay-out. We highly encourage all employees to receive the vaccine if they are able. Increased vaccination rates will be the fastest way back to normalcy.
An update on the CDC-authorized booster vaccination will be shared when more details emerge. As stated earlier, we are monitoring the situation closely as we continue to balance your safety and the company’s operational needs.
Thank you and stay safe!
