Comments from our 2021 survey made it clear that an investment in leadership development training for our current and emerging leaders is essential. We are seeing similar themes in the comments from the 2023 survey. All good things come in time.

During the past year, leaders from across the organization collaborated on what it means and what is needed to be an effective leader within Schupan. Because of your feedback and their willingness to devote multiple hours to sharing their thoughts with an external partner, we have developed the Leadership Enrichment and Development (LEaD) program. Over the next several months, supervisors and managers will participate in LEaD training. The principles within the training are built around our core values of integrity, compassion, empowerment, and sustainability.

“The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on leadership development.”

John C. Maxwell

A grant provided by the GoingPro Talent Fund in Michigan helped to make this training possible. As a result of the funding, the first round of participants in this training are based in Michigan. The goal is to provide this training continuously to supervisors, managers, and other leaders throughout the organization.

As we continue to receive feedback from our coworkers as to what they would like to see in their supervisor, manager, business unit leaders, etc., we will build on the training program to ensure that leadership is enriching and developing skills to allow us to attract, retain, and grow the best.
Thank you to everyone who is participating in the training. Your willingness to engage and apply your learnings benefits you and the individuals entrusted to you within our organization.

A huge thank you to all of our coworkers who provided comments in our 2021 and 2023 surveys regarding what you want and therefore believe is needed for leadership to support you within our organization. With your candid feedback, we know what matters to you and is necessary for our growth.
