The federal government ended the COVID-19 public health emergency on May 11, 2023. The end of this declaration means changes to certain policies and practices established by the federal government during the pandemic.
See below for changes that may affect you & your families.
- COVID vaccinations will be covered 100% as preventive and have been added to the Affordable Care Act’s Definition of Preventive Vaccinations.
- Over the Counter (OTC) COVID home tests will no longer be covered through medical insurance as of 05/11/2023. However, OTC COVID home tests are an allowed expense on either an HSA or medical FSA (approximately $10-$12 per test).
- COVID Labs and Testing at a participating providers will be subject to normal copayments and deductibles on/after 05/11/2023.
- COVID Treatment at participating providers will continue to be covered and subject to normal copayments and deductibles.
- COVID-related hospital/office services, including ER utilization, will be covered, and subject to normal copayments and deductibles on/after 5/11/2023.
