Hello, Schupan Team!

Happy New Year!

Building on our efforts in 2024, we’re keeping communication and information sharing a top priority. This means open dialogue, regular feedback, and keeping everyone informed. One way we’ll do this is by continuing our weekly highlights email to make key updates easy to access.

We’d love your input as we work to make communication even simpler and more effective for you!

Weekly Highlights: January 6th – January 12th

401k Match Updates for New Hires

Instead of waiting until the first of the quarter after their first-anniversary date to earn a match, effective 1/1/2025, coworkers earn the company-provided 401k match on the date of hire. Individuals must contribute to their 401k to receive the match.

For additional information, please visit oneschupan.com, contact Greenleaf Trust, or speak with a TMR team member.

New Year: Review Your Benefit Deductions

This is your friendly reminder to review your benefit deductions on your upcoming paycheck. It’s the perfect time to ensure everything matches your choices from open enrollment.

For example:

    • Are all the plans you selected being deducted?
    • Are all your dependents covered that should be?
    • Did you get your wellness credit?
    • Is the right amount going to your HSA or FSA?

If you notice any discrepancies or have questions, please contact TMR as soon as possible.

A Move to a New FMLA Platform

Effective 1/1/2025, the FMLA leave management system is now FMLASource (previously AbsencePro).

The process remains the same:

  • Notify your supervisor and/or your TMR Business Partner
  • Submit your FMLA leave information to FMLASource online or over the phone by calling (877) Go2-FMLA

Tax Check to Kick Off the Year

While you’re reviewing your benefits deductions, don’t forget to take a moment to review your state and federal tax withholdings too. It’s always smart to ensure everything’s set up correctly for a smooth year ahead. If you need to make updates, you can do so in Paycom.

MSCI Chapter Scholarship Program Opens January 1, 2025

Your child could be eligible for a Metals Service Center Institute scholarship! Check out the flyer for more information!

Take ’em Back!

Bottle and can redemption is crucial to Michigan’s environmental and economic landscape. The state’s deposit law encourages residents to recycle, reduce waste, and promote a circular economy. As the nation’s largest independent processor of used beverage containers, higher redemption rates directly support Schupan’s operational sustainability and growth in Wixom, Grand Rapids, and beyond. Redemption ensures that materials are recycled and repurposed, reducing landfill use and conserving natural resources. It also provides economic benefits to consumers, allowing them to reclaim their dimes.

With the “Take ’em Back” campaign in full throttle and now winding down, we’ve witnessed a promising uptick in redemption rates across the state. Preliminary estimates indicate a 2% increase, reflecting heightened awareness and participation in recycling efforts. Collective action can drive significant positive outcomes for the environment and our industry. Be sure to spread the word among your friends and families!
